Refused to sing at weddings

-

Singer KK lived his life with pride. In an interview with an English daily in 2008, he stated that he will not sing at weddings even if paid a lot of money. “Yes. I refuse to sing at weddings even if offered `1 crore,” he allegedly stated.

SHAMEER TANDON | He was the first singer who sang a jingle for me and we have worked extensively day in and day out, dubbing with him for many leading brands not only in Hindi but also in other languages. I had the good fortune of also recording with him for a few of my films and conducting an interview with him. KK is a pure soul, and that is reflected in his simple singing style. I sometimes called him the Mukesh of today, singing tragedy songs. Straight notes were his area of competence.

Himesh Reshammiya | KK was not only a great singer but a very warm-hearted human being. He sang some of my beautiful songs which are timeless. I will always miss him and his soulful voice. There was a beautiful smile on his face whenever we met. I remember the last time I met him was around a year ago at an airport lounge while coming back to Mumbai as we had been performing in the same city. We had very happy conversations that day and I just can’t get over the fact that he is not with us anymore. He was a true legend.

Salim Merchant | It’s a dark/sad time for all of us. Sidhu’s (Moosewala) demise was also a shocker. I am not able to believe it. KK was careful about his lifestyle, fit and focused. He would finish his concerts and go back to his family. He had no bad habits and lived a balanced lifestyle. He was always happy, positive and very supportive of young artistes.
