OFFICIAL TRIED TO COVER UP FOOD POISONING: GEETA REDDY

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president J. Geeta Reddy alleged that officials tried to suppress the food poisoning incident in Siddipet, represente­d by health minister T. Harish Rao.

More than 100 students fell ill due to food poisoning, she said. Speaking to reporters here at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, Geeta Reddy said minority residentia­l schools students were facing problems in Siddipet. Majority of students were from Muslim minority group and their wellbeing was neglected, she said.

NSUI leader severely hurt during arrest;

TPCC condemns: National Students Union of India (NSUI) state president Balmuri Venkat sustained serious injuries in Siddipet on Wednesday during a scuffle with the police on his way to visit the victims of food poisoning in a minority residentia­l school. However, the police took him into custody and shifted to Chinna Kodur police station.

Later, he was shifted to Thoguta and Gajwel police stations. While he was being shifted to various police stations, Balmuri Venkat sustained injuries and fainted. He was admitted at the Gajwel Government Hospital and then shifted to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad.

Reacting to the incident, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A. Revanth Reddy condemned the arrest of Venkat.
