Last year in October Rakul officially announced her relationship with actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani. In fact, he had presented Mashooka too. She says that it’s amazing collaborating with Jackky. “This is my second collaboration with him after my film; I know how passionate he is about music and he has a very good sense of music and collaborating with him for the kind of vision he had on music is a very exciting journey,” shares Rakul.

LOVE FOR ADVENTURE

Be it scuba diving, skydiving or kayaking, Rakul relishes flaunting her adventurous side time and again. The actress states that she’s a nature lover and adventurous sports help her connect better with herself.

“Adventurous sports also help me realise how negligible we are on this planet,” she smiles, commenting that such thoughts keep her rooted. “Such sports help me be in my own element apart from giving me joy. So I keep doing them regularly. Also, it’s a great detachment from our otherwise hectic and chaotic schedules. It further helps my personality and brings out the best out of me.”

A sports woman and a fitness enthusiast, Rakul also expresses that she’d love to star in a sport’s biopic. “But I don’t know who because there are so many great stories that need to be told and celebrated,” she says and quips, “Are directors listening.”

IS VERY GRATEFUL

For someone who has been in the industry for more than a decade, did she catch her breath sometimes and wonder how it happened? “I do catch my breath and wonder, Ok, what’s next! I am a workaholic and grateful for living a life that I dreamt of. But still I feel I have a lot more to learn and so much more I want to push myself for the characters I play,” she reasons.

The actress is quite overwhelmed that she has a few films lined up for release. And she is hoping that they do well. “I think it’s overwhelming only if your film does well,” she laughs. “I had days like ‘when will the film release’ and also days of being patient and waiting till the film release,” she says, being appreciative of the fact that she has work and she keeps getting good work.”

Talking about theatres across the country, the current situation seems to be very grim due to lack of audiences and OTT platforms, especially post pandemic. In fact, filmmakers and actors have their task cut out in bringing the audience to the theatres.

Rakul acknowledges it. “It is very disheartening to see the way theatres are running. I can only hope that things get better. I think this is the time we all — Gennext or senior actors — we all need to stand together. If not now, it’s never,” she says, adding that we also need to create contentdriven films.

“Because it’s only films that have good content can pull the audience to the theatres. We need to make films with a good heart. The pandemic has given a lot of opportunities for the audiences to watch the film at their own comfort. So we have to create something that pulls them to the theatres. Be it emotion, visual experience or the wow factor," she says.

The last time she signed a film was a couple of years back. And Rakul’s social media handle is full of queries asking her when she will do her next film in Telugu.

“We cannot plan and balance it out. With half a dozen films in Hindi, there’s very little time you can squeeze out,” she says.

I do catch my breath and wonder, Ok, what’s next! I am a workaholic and grateful for living a life that I dreamt of. But still I feel I have a lot more to learn and so much more I want to push myself for the characters I play
