Zawahiri was killed by two missiles fired at his Kabul house.

He was killed on the balcony.

Dubbed “flying ginsu” and “ninja bomb,” it has become US munition of choice for killing leaders of extremist

groups.

The Hellfire missiles have several variants, depending on their warhead, guidance system, and physical variations. Hellfire R9X, which uses pop-out sword blades to kill targets with minimal collateral damage, is the latest and peculiar addition to the line of Hellfire missiles.

An Egyptian, Ayman al-zawahiri was born on June 19, 1951 in a leafy, drowsy Cairo suburb.

He immersed himself in a violent branch of a Sunni Islamic revival that sought to replace the governments of Egypt and other Arab nations.

He worked as an eye surgeon, witnessed Afghans’ war against Soviets, and met young Saudi Osama bin Laden.

He was captured and tortured in Egyptian prison after Islamic fundamentalists assassinated President Anwar Sadat in 1981.

Seven years later, al-zawahiri was present when bin Laden founded al-qaeda.

Al-zawahiri merged his own Egyptian militant group with alqaeda.

On the run after 9/11, alzawahiri rebuilt al-qaeda leadership in the Afghanpakistan border region.
