‘I’m glad to have three releases this year’

Luv sir kept us in a mystery zone, says Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor is having her first release in three years — because of Covid, her film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar was delayed. “The biggest problem was that Covid struck and the film ended up taking around three years to make and release. I also did Baaghi 3 but Covid stopped the progress of that too. So I am glad that I am having a release after three years now,” says the actress.

During the pandemic, she couldn’t begin shooting for any of her films, be it Chaalbaaz in London or the first film from the Nagin series. But now she is heaving a sigh of relief.

Incidentally, Shraddha did not get a script to read for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar. The film is about the two protagonists taking each other for a ride, and the director apparently kept the actors in suspense about what the truth was in the story. It was this approach that captivated Shraddha.

“Luv sir did not even give me a script to read. He kept us in a mystery zone. We did not know which dialogues were the truthful ones and which were fake. We were always confused and he didn’t reveal it to us. He is a master of deception and likes twisted things a lot. We really didn’t know who was the liar in the film. I guess I will know only when I get to see the film,” she says.

“The process of filming was unique. Rahul Mody sir, the writer of the film, guided us through the shoot. It was quite different and interesting. It was a new process. I loved the way they made the film,” she shares.

Taking a playful dig at the filmmaker, she adds with a chuckle, “I am very thankful to Luv sir that he thought beyond Kartik Aaryan and Nushrratt Bharruccha and decided to work with us fresh faces.” (Luv Ranjan, who has made the Pyar ka Punchnama series, Akashvani and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has only worked with Kartik and Nushrratt so far.)

Shraddha is happy she got a chance to work with an actor like Ranbir Kapoor who she has known for years.
