The BJP on Tuesday asked the ruling BRS government and its legislators to demonstrate their commitment to rain and flood relief measures by donating one month’s salary, calling on Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to instruct his party MLAS and MLCS in this regard.

“We, the BJP legislators, are ready to donate one month salary. We hope the Chief Minister will ask his party legislators to donate one month’s salary too,” Dubbak MLA M. Raghunandan Rao said at a press conference.

He said that while the government announced a `500 crore flood relief package, it did not make it clear whether farmers, whose lands and crops were submerged in the latest rain spell, would be rescued.

Raghunandan Rao, accompanied by party MLC A.N.V. Reddy, said that the BJP hoped that the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues would visit the areas worst hit by rains in the state. “But instead, he flew to Maharashtra to expand his family activities to promote one more of his kin as BRS leader in that state. Our hope was that after Monday’s Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister would embark on a tour of flood-ravaged areas but he is only interested in his party activities and not about suffering people of the state,” he said.

The BJP MLA also took aim at MA&UD minister K.T. Rama Rao for talking about expanding the Metro by 228 kilometres,

Our hope was that after Monday’s Cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister would embark on a tour of flood-ravaged areas but he is only interested in his party activities and not about suffering people of the state.

with an investment of `60,000 crore in the next four years.

“This, from a minister who could not do anything about laying 5.5 km of Metro Rail in the Old City of Hyderabad in the past nine years. Since polls are nearing, the Chief Minister and the BRS are making a fresh lot of election promises. I call on people of Telangana to see through such tactics,” he said.
