Kalyanam soaks city in spirituality
Hyderabad was soaked into spiritual bliss as devotees came together to witness the Sitarama Kalyanam ceremony, which was organised at several temples across the city.
From dawn, devotees starting making beeline to temples, where they participated in traditional rituals and chanting the name of Lord Rama throughout the day.
The Hare Krishna Golden Temple also marked Srirama Navami with grandeur. As part of the festivities, the divine forms of “Radha Govinda” appeared as Sitaram-achandra adorned with nava vastraas (new robes), vibrant flowers, and exquisite jewellery.
The traditional “Sri Sitarama Kalyanotsavam” took place in the morning, accompanied by Vedic hymns, spiritual chants, bhajans, and kirtans by devotees, invoking prosperity and welfare for all. In the evening, the “Srirama Taraka Ashto-ttara Homa” was performed for the wellbeing and protection of everyone present.
Devotees concluded the day with a reverent Parikrama (circumambulation) around the Homa Kunda, followed by the Maha Mangala Arathi.
At the Vasavinagar community hall in Secunderabad Cantonment, around 2,000 residents gathered for the celestial wedding. At Sri Ganapathi Sachid-ananda Swamiji ashram, devotees immersed themselves in Srirama Navami celebrations throughout the day. According to Nandani Bokka raju, the day began with devout offerings, followed by the Srirama Taarak Homa and Sitarama Kalyanam, culminating in the Shree Chakra Pooja and soul-stirring bhajans. At Nizam College grounds, a large gathering of devotees came together to perform the celestial wedding, which was organised with grandeur, where lunch was provided for thousands of devotees.
