Mumtaz’s comment on Zeenat’s marriage uncalled for

Yesteryear actress Mumtaz criticises Zeenat Aman for her opinion on live-in relationships, crosses boundaries by commenting on her troubled marriage with Mazhar

Veteran actresses seem to be waiting for a chance to air their views on various subjects. Leading the pack is 73year-old Zeenat Aman, who has been making her presence felt with her liberal views on various societal issues. In her Instagram post last week, Zeenat described a live-in relationship as the “ultimate test”. She wrote, “If you’re in a relationship, I strongly recommend that you LIVE TOGETHER before getting married.” Sharing that this was the advice she had given her sons, both of whom have had or are in live-in relationships, she explained that, “It just seems logical to me that before two people get their families and the government involved in their equation, they first put their relationship to the ultimate test.” The couples must first figure out if they would be able to work through the ‘million tiny conflicts’ that will arise, including such mundane matters as what to have for dinner or the ramifications of sharing a bathroom, she felt.

But yesteryear actress Mumtaz was not amused by her Hare Rama

Hare Krishna co-star’s ‘cool’ stance. She called out the actor for trying to sound like a “cool aunty.” In an interview to Zoom, she asserted that “giving advice that is counter to our moral values is not the solution to increasing your following.” She also commented on Zeenat’s troubled marriage to actor Mazhar Khan. “It was a living hell. She should be the last person doling out advice on relationships,” Mumtaz said.

While everyone was waiting for Zeenat to hit back, as Mumtaz took it a bit too far by commenting on Zeenat’s troubled marriage which the actress silently suffered, she maintained a dignified stance, saying, each one is entitled to their own opinion.

“Giving advice that is counter to our moral values is not the solution to increasing your following. Her marriage to actor Mazhar Khan was a living hell. She should be the last person doling out advice on relationships.”
