70% clear Inter 2nd year, pass percentage dips in 1st year
Board tells students not to be disheartened if their results weren’t up to their expectations
The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) reported a shift in the academic performance of students in the 2024 Intermediate Public Examinations, with firstyear students experiencing a slight drop in pass rates to 61.06 per cent from last year’s 63.85 per cent, while second-year students improved, registering a 69.46 per cent pass rate, up from 67.27 per cent.
These results, released more than two weeks earlier than the previous year, were announced by principal secretary, education, Burra Venkatesham, and secretary, TS BIE, Shruthi Ojha at a press conference in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
“The early announcement aims to streamline students’ transition into higher education,” Venkateisham told reporters.
Venkatesham also asked students not to be disheartened if their results weren’t up to their expectations. “Some might take it to heart even if it is a matter of only a single mark or two. You can always reach out to the help desk for any queries or complaints. Please remember that this is only an exam and not your entire life. Several
IAS toppers have today barely passed their exams in the third division, many who are sitting at top positions today have once failed, so please don't worry, understand that life goes on,” he said while speaking to the media.
The exams, which took place from February 28 to March 19, girls continued to outshine boys, particularly in the first year, where 2,41,682 female candidates took the exam, and 1,65,190, or 68.35 per cent, passed.
This contrasts with the 2,37,041 boys who appeared, with 1,22,071, or 51.50 per cent, managing to pass. “The examination integrity was meticulously maintained, resulting in 117 students being booked for malpractice,” the board said.
For students who may seek to improve their grades or who need to retake examinations, the board has scheduled the Advanced Supplementary Examinations to begin on May 24, 2024. Registration for these exams will be open from April 25 to May 2, 2024.
