WHY VISIT? Expect to be spellbound by the landscapes of India’s largest salt desert.

Shimmering under the blazing sun like a white wonderland, Rann of Kutch in Gujarat sits on the western edge of the country with its colossal deserts stretching as far as the eye can see. Come monsoon, the barren lands here are flooded with seawater. In winter, they dry up to transform into India’s largest salt marsh, which hosts the annual Rann Utsav between November and February. A celebration of the local culture, the festival revolves around a makeshift colourful tent city.

GETTING THERE: The best way to reach Rann of Kutch is via road from the nearest town, Bhuj. Regular flights operate between New Delhi and Bhuj.
