As the world of graphic novel and comics en­thu­si­asts cel­e­brated his birth cen­ten­nial last year, Eis­ner’s con­tri­bu­tion and im­pact on the world of comics and se­quen­tial art still can­not pos­si­bly be over­stated. Not too long ago graphic nov­els were given their due in the lit­er­ary world. In the re­cent decades, some of them have topped the best­sellers list; some have gar­nered Pulitzers, while a num­ber of them have been adapted by other medi­ums like theatre, film and se­ries.

The graphic novel, which is now con­sid­ered to be a pop­u­lar and re­spectable form of art and lit­er­a­ture on a global scale, owes its ori­gins to Will Eis­ner, who is known as “the Fa­ther of Graphic Novel”. As the world of graphic nov­els and comics en­thu­si­asts cel­e­brated his birth cen­ten­nial last year, Eis­ner’s con­tri­bu­tion and im­pact on the world of comics and se­quen­tial art still can­not pos­si­bly be over­stated.
