The internet which brings the world to your doorstep also poses potential threats to personal information and sensitive data. In the past few years keeping the expansion of business in mind companies aggressively used easily accessible applications for their marketing strategies. This move has given birth to more payment frauds, security breaches, and data stealth. The Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, Toyota Motor Corporation is the latest name to be dragged in this mess of hackers and security breaches.
The company in a brief narration admitted that in a brazen attack on March 21, 2019 hackers had gained “unauthorized access to the network” which gave them customer data belonging to eight different sales subsidiaries of the company across the country. However, Toyota said that early investigations are on way as to the extent of data which the hackers might have gained and whether they have got access to anything in the first place.
MOVES TO ASSURE ITS CUSTOMERS
The company will not take any chances and have its brand name tarnished by sitting on this news and thereby had gone ahead and revealed things to its customers. However, in a move to reassure them Toyota has categorically ruled out that any information on credit cards has been accessed by the attackers. The company also mentioned that it will apply high-security measures on its dealers to take care of any data breach. The customers have been asked to get in touch with their respective dealers to find out if any of their data has been accessed.
Needless to say, whatever be the security measures, customers were apprehensive with this development.
