New Delhi: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on Congress over the dicey Agustawestland chopper deal, BJP sokesperson Sambit Patra said that two other lawyers from the Congress party are representing Christian Michel, the UK national alleged to be a middleman who swung the deal.
Aljo K Joseph, who was a leader of the Indian Youth Congress until Wednesday, had appeared for Michel in court. He was expelled by the party following an uproar on social media. Patra said two other lawyers of the British national are also linked to the Congress party.
“Vishnu Shankar is the son of a Kerala Congress leader and Sriram Parakkat has been an NSUI member. All three [including Aljo Joseph] have worked under big Congress lawyers such as Salman Khurshid and Kapil Sibal,” Patra told reporters on Thursday.

Sambit Patra, Union of India is the student wing of the Congress.
Stating that Michel is under “full surveillance” of Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi, Patra said the party has been “completely rattled” by his extradition. Therefore, it sent out a team of lawyers to save him, he said. Michel had allegedly travelled over a dozen times to Delhi in the years preceding the negotiations of the deal and its subsequent conclusion in 2010. Bahadur was his driver during those visits.
