Mean ma­chines: DNA’S auto show is back with test drives, dis­counts

some of the big­gest brands in the car and twowheeler seg­ments will be dis­play­ing their lat­est prod­ucts and up­grades for the au­to­mo­tive lovers to see, test drive and even pur­chase on pro­mo­tional dis­count price. Semi-clas­sic im­ported cars and ac­ces­sories will also be on dis­play.

DNA Auto show is in­creas­ingly gain­ing pop­u­lar­ity among the res­i­dents of Mum­bai and Mum­bai Metropoli­tan Re­gion (MMR) with the pre­vi­ous edi­tions draw­ing thou­sands of foot­falls each day, the or­gan­is­ers added.

The In­dian au­to­mo­tive in­dus­try (in­clud­ing com­po­nent man­u­fac­tur­ing), which is amongst the fastest grow­ing in the world, ac­cord­ing to the cen­tral gov­ern­ment, is es­ti­mated to reach Rs 16.16 — 18.18 tril­lion by the year 2026. It was the 7th largest man­u­fac­turer of com­mer­cial ve­hi­cles in 2017. In­dia is also a prom­i­nent auto ex­porter and has strong ex­port growth ex­pec­ta­tions for the near fu­ture. In or­der to keep up with the grow­ing de­mand, sev­eral auto mak­ers have started in­vest­ing heav­ily in var­i­ous seg­ments of the in­dus­try dur­ing the last few months. The in­dus­try has at­tracted For­eign Di­rect In­vest­ment (FDI) worth $19.29 bil­lion dur­ing the pe­riod April 2000 to June 2018, ac­cord­ing to data re­leased by Depart­ment of In­dus­trial Pol­icy and Pro­mo­tion (DIPP).

More than 25 mil­lion au­to­mo­biles were pro­duced in the coun­try dur­ing the Fis­cal Year 2017. The spur in growth is pri­mar­ily at­trib­uted to the rise in in­come, and a boom­ing mid­dle class and young pop­u­la­tion, claim the in­dus­try ob­servers.
