Raj, Telangana see high voter turnout
Jaipur/new Delhi: Assembly elections in Rajasthan and Telangana went off largely uneventful on Friday, capping the five-state season polls that had started on November 12. The results will be out on December 11.
In Rajasthan, 74 per cent voters cast their ballot, while it stood at 67 per cent in Telangana.
Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sachin Pilot and senior party leader Ashok Gehlot were among those who exercised their franchise in Rajasthan. Five years ago, a historic 75.23 per cent polling was recorded in the state which also saw a change in regime with the BJP returning to power.
Several Telugu filmstars, tennis player Sania Mirza and ace shuttler PV Sindhu were among those who exercised their franchise in Hyderabad. In the last Assembly elections, the vote percentage was recorded 69.5 per cent.
The Election Commission said the final figures for both the states would be revised later.
