Felling of trees for PM’S he­li­pad kicks off a row

Balan­gir (Odisha): Two days ahead of Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi’s sched­uled visit to Balan­gir dis­trict, a row sur­faced on Sun­day over al­leged cut­ting of trees to pre­pare a tem­po­rary he­li­pad. Di­vi­sional For­est Of­fi­cer (DFO), Balan­gir, Sameer Sat­pa­thy said sev­eral trees were felled near the rail­way sta­tion ground in the dis­trict to pre­pare a tem­po­rary he­li­pad with­out ob­tain­ing prior per­mis­sion. Sat­pa­thy added that an in­quiry in this re­gard has been or­dered. Union Pe­tro­leum Min­is­ter Dhar­men­dra Prad­han, how­ever, claimed that peo­ple who are “afraid” of the PM’S visit are try­ing to spread a false cam­paign by “mis­us­ing” for­est of­fi­cials.

Man falls while fly­ing kite, dies

Hyderabad: A 27-yearold man died on Sun­day after he fell off a two-storey build­ing while fly­ing a kite in Hyderabad’s Warasiguda area, po­lice said. The in­ci­dent oc­curred this af­ter­noon when the man, a scrap dealer by pro­fes­sion, lost his bal­ance and fell on the com­pound wall of the build­ing. He was rushed to a nearby hos­pi­tal, they said, adding that he died in the evening dur­ing treat­ment.

Wanted Nax­alite killed in J’khand

Dumka: A wanted Nax­alite, car­ry­ing a re­ward of Rs 10 lakh, was killed by se­cu­rity forces in an en­counter in Jhark­hand’s Dumka dis­trict on Sun­day, po­lice said. Shahdeo Rai alias Tal­ada was killed in an en­counter in the jun­gles of Shikari­para in Dumka. He was the prime ac­cused in the killing of a cop in July 2013.
