‘9 cr TV homes opt for new tar­iff’

Tele­com reg­u­la­tor Trai has said nine crore out of 17 crore TV homes have made their chan­nel pref­er­ences to on­board the new tar­iff regime, and it is con­stantly mon­i­tor­ing the sit­u­a­tion to en­sure that con­sumers do not face in­con­ve­nience. “The speed (of on­board­ing) has in­creased as per our data and we ex­pect the rest of the peo­ple to also reg­is­ter their choice of chan­nels soon,” Tele­com Reg­u­la­tory Author­ity of In­dia (Trai) chair­man R S Sharma said. He said of the nine crore TV homes that have made their chan­nel pref­er­ences clear, 6.5 crore are ca­ble TV homes and 2.5 crore are DTH homes.

Mfg out­look to im­prove in Q3

Hir­ing and pro­duc­tion out­look is ex­pected to be bet­ter, while ex­ports will be af­fected due to global de­mand fac­tors in man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor in Oc­to­ber-de­cem­ber this fis­cal, said a Fed­er­a­tion of In­dian Cham­bers of Com­merce and In­dus­try (Ficci) sur­vey. The per­cent­age of re­spon­dents re­port­ing higher out­put growth dur­ing the third quar­ter was 54% as com­pared to 47% in the same pe­riod pre­vi­ous fis­cal. The per­cent­age of re­spon­dents re­port­ing low pro­duc­tion was only 13.5% in Q3 of 2018-19 as com­pared to 15% in the third quar­ter of 2017-18.
