Jewellery worth 50L looted from Pandav Nagar store
Five car-borne miscreants looted jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh on gunpoint from a jewellery shop in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar on Thursday noon. The robbers had come in a car via the Noida-Delhi link road, the police said.
The victim couple has been identified as Vijay Sharma and his wife Priyanka. They own Kanishka Jeweller at F-block in Pandav Nagar residential area. The police said Vijay had opened the shop around 11:15 AM and his wife Priyanka was doing ‘puja’ inside the shop. They then displayed the jewellery in the showcase.
Around 12 pm, five persons stopped their car in front of the shop and three of them entered the shop brandishings pistols. They took the couple on gunpoints and forced them to sit under the showcase table threatening to kill them, said a police official.
The police said the miscreants took 15 minutes to loot all the jewellery from the showcases and lockers and Rs 2.5 lakh cash. The robbers also took away the gold chains and diamond rings worn by the couple before fleeing with the other two associates who were waiting outside in the car,” she said.
Gaurav Sharma, Vijay’s younger brother said, “They took the CCTV recording, two mobile phones and weighing machine along with them. As the assailants entered the shop, they had reversed back their car to easily escape via the same Delhi- Noida link road.”
