Do­mes­tic help ‘hangs him­self’ at res­i­dence of Air Force chief

New Delhi: A 30-year-old do­mes­tic help em­ployed at the res­i­dence of Air Chief Mar­shal Biren­der Singh Dhanoa al­legedly com­mit­ted sui­cide by hang­ing him­self at the IAF chief’s home in Lu­tyens’ Delhi on Thurs­day af­ter­noon.

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, Manoj Ku­mar worked at Dhanoa’s res­i­dence on 23 Ak­bar Road as a con­trac­tual em­ployee, but did not in­habit the ser­vants’ quar­ters. He resided in North-East Delhi’s Gokulpuri area.

Po­lice of­fi­cials said they rushed to Dhanoa’s res­i­dence af­ter re­ceiv­ing a call about the in­ci­dent. The po­lice team that ar­rived at the scene said the ser­vants’ quar­ters was found locked from in­side, and they had to break open the door. “Ku­mar was found hang­ing from the ceil­ing fan,” said Mad­hur Verma, deputy com­mis­sioner of po­lice, New Delhi area.

The po­lice have said that it ap­peared Manoj Ku­mar was stressed out with some per­sonal is­sues and was suf­fer­ing from de­pres­sion. His fam­ily mem­bers have been in­formed about the in­ci­dent.
