2016 was the fifth time when A. Lange & Söhne took part in Concorso d’Eleganza, a parade of automotive works of art on Lake Como. Held in collaboration with BMW, which celebrates 100 years this year, the rally is believed to be one of the largest and most exclusive vintage rallies in the world. Having sponsored the competition since 2012, the German watch manufacturers have dfghjhdasdsabeen making special watches for the event every year since then. Conceived explicitly for the event, this year’s special ‘ Como Edition’ model of the Lange 1 Time Zone, which was presented to the winner in the ‘ Best of show’ category, comes with a handengraved caseback in white gold. The inscription ‘ Concorso D’Eleganza Villa D’Este’ frames the coat of arms of the event and the two calendar years, tracing the arc from the first Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in 1929 to the present. A partner of Carroll Shelby Inc. since 2015, Baume et Mercier honours Shelby’s spirit of endurance with a series of limited- edition chronographs, inspired by one of the most successful Cobras in history— CSX2128, the 289 Roadster. Baume et Mercier designed the second edition of the Capeland Shelby Cobra to honour the endurance and skill of its heroic drivers. Its caseback is engraved with the collection’s name and words ‘ one out of 1963’ refering to the number of limited- edition pieces and the year of Cobra’s first victory at the American championship. As a final tribute, the sapphire crystal features the CSX2128’ s famous N° 15 race number. With a face modelled after the Cobra’s dashboard, its deep black dial and transparent twin horizontal racing stripes pay further homage to the car, while its hands mirror the Cobra’s steering wheel.

Bidding guests farewell with sweets, souvenirs and good wishes
