Dentist ‘molested’ by medical representative at clinic, held
The JJ Marg police on Friday arrested a 22-year-old medical representative (MR) for allegedly molesting a dentist at her clinic earlier this month. The accused works with a pharmaceutical company.
The accused has been identified as Vikas Sharma, a resident of Kurla. Sharma has been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the police, the complainant is a practicing dentist and runs a clinic in Dongri. On December 3, Sharma had visited the victim’s clinic in order to market the products of his company.
“According to the victim, Sharma visited her clinic again the next day. However, this time, he made objectionable comments towards the victim. Sharma started giving unwanted compliments to the victim and kept praising her beauty. He also asked if she was married. Sharma crossed his limits when he asked victim if he could kiss her,” said a police officer.
He added, the victim immediately raised an alarm after which Sharma fled from the clinic. “Sharma returned after a while and again indulged in indecency. The victim then lodged a police complaint lodged after which we contacted the company where the suspect worked and arrested him after we got his details,” said the officer.
