Den­tist ‘mo­lested’ by med­i­cal rep­re­sen­ta­tive at clinic, held

The JJ Marg po­lice on Fri­day ar­rested a 22-year-old med­i­cal rep­re­sen­ta­tive (MR) for al­legedly mo­lest­ing a den­tist at her clinic ear­lier this month. The ac­cused works with a phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal com­pany.

The ac­cused has been iden­ti­fied as Vikas Sharma, a res­i­dent of Kurla. Sharma has been booked un­der sec­tions 354 (as­sault or crim­i­nal force to woman with in­tent to out­rage her mod­esty) and 509 (word, ges­ture or act in­tended to in­sult the mod­esty of a woman) of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC).

Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, the com­plainant is a prac­tic­ing den­tist and runs a clinic in Don­gri. On De­cem­ber 3, Sharma had vis­ited the vic­tim’s clinic in or­der to mar­ket the prod­ucts of his com­pany.

“Ac­cord­ing to the vic­tim, Sharma vis­ited her clinic again the next day. How­ever, this time, he made ob­jec­tion­able com­ments to­wards the vic­tim. Sharma started giv­ing un­wanted com­pli­ments to the vic­tim and kept prais­ing her beauty. He also asked if she was mar­ried. Sharma crossed his lim­its when he asked vic­tim if he could kiss her,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer.

He added, the vic­tim im­me­di­ately raised an alarm af­ter which Sharma fled from the clinic. “Sharma re­turned af­ter a while and again in­dulged in in­de­cency. The vic­tim then lodged a po­lice com­plaint lodged af­ter which we con­tacted the com­pany where the sus­pect worked and ar­rested him af­ter we got his de­tails,” said the of­fi­cer.
