Water, traffic woes may hurt Vichare’s campaign
Mumbai: The fortunes of Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare depend on whether his party forms a pre-poll alliance with the BJP or not. United they stand, but divided they may lose.
Vichare, a former mayor of Thane, rode the Narendra
Modi in 2014 wave to win. A strong cadre base of both saffron parties and a fractured Opposition also came in handy. But with the BJP training its guns on Vichare for non-performance over the last five years, in addition to similar efforts made by NCP, which had won this seat in 2009, may hurt Vichare.
While the MP claims he has done over 250 projects, critics point to traffic jams, rising pollution, water scarcity, ageing infrastructure and growth of slums.
