Setalvad’s security guard shoots self
A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constable, posted on duty at social activist, Teesta Setalvad’s residence, shot himself on Saturday. The incident occurred around 10.20 am, when the constable Bhanwarlal Nayak (42) shot himself on the head using an AK-47. The Santacruz police have registered a case of Accidental Death Report (ADR). Investigation is underway.
According to the police, Bhanwarlal, a native of Rajasthan, had joined duty on Saturday after returning from Noida. He was posted with eleven other personnels at Setalvad’s bungalow at Juhu Tara road in Santacruz west.
“Nayak took out his AK-47 gun and shot himself on point blank range. Nayak’s colleagues, who were present at the spot immediately rushed to the spot after hearing a loud gunshot. He was rushed to the civic-run Cooper Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot yet,” said Dattatray Bhargude, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Santacruz).
