LEAF Fellowship academia
The Landscape Environment Advancement Foundation (LEAF) was founded in 2003, by Prof. Prabhakar B. Bhagwat. The organisation undertakes research and publication in the areas of landscape design and environmental planning. Over the years, LEAF has increased its areas of exploration to developing city management matrices, governance and administration studies, urban generation, and open space outreach efforts. It has also worked on a countrywide exhibition on landscape design — Tracing Narratives, that explored the various facets of landscape design and its history in India. Prof. Prabhakar Bhagwat taught and started the first Landscape Design programme in India, at IIT Kharagpur in the 1950s, served as a Head of a Landscape Department at Delhi, founded the Landscape Design at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and was the founder of ISOLA (Indian Society of Landscape Architects). He was also awarded a membership of British Landscape Institute. After heading the Environmental Cell and teaching at NID for over a decade, he started his design studio in 1973, and it currently continues to lead in landscape and environmental design in the country.
