There’s a sea mon­ster in Philadel­phia

See­ing the city dif­fer­ently while mak­ing con­tem­po­rary art fun and ac­ces­si­ble are the two sim­ple goals that un­der­lie Sea Mon­sters HERE, an in­stal­la­tion by Filthy Luker and Pe­dro Estrel­las, cu­rated by the Group X col­lec­tive in Philadel­phia’s Navy Yard. Since Oc­to­ber, the suc­cess­ful op­er­a­tion has caught ev­ery­one’s at­ten­tion with 20 in­flat­able ten­ta­cles pro­trud­ing from a 20,000 sq. m build­ing. It’s been a suc­cess for the pa­tron, too, who is in charge of trans­form­ing this exmil­i­tary base with its 750 ha, 150 firms and a site of Penn State Uni­ver­sity.
