Theatre of nature

Down To Earth travels to Rampur, a remote village in Assam's Goalpara district, to attend kUnder the Sal Tree: Theatre of Naturey, a unique theatre festival that is held inside a sal forest. The festival uses no artificial sound equipment or pyrotechnics and the stage, seating arrangements made entirely of natural material. One of the aims of the annual event, which started in 2008, is to inculcate the appreciation for the importance of sal forests among the native Rabha tribal community.
