The article only attempted to understand subsidies and other concession­s provided to solar power and whether it is fair to celebrate so soon given the fact that the low tariffs might not prove to be bankable. The comparison does not suggest that coal does not receive any subsidy but that we have to ensure the cost of generation for solar comes down because India needs cheaper power and we cannot rely on something that is artificial­ly inexpensiv­e.
