Withdraw or modify poultry ad: ASCI

Standards Council of India (ASCI) has advised the All India Poultry Development and Services Private Limited to withdraw or modify an advertisement with the tagline "Eat chicken, it's healthy and benefits you" that misrepresented a study on antibiotic residues in poultry meat by Delhi-based Centre for Science and Environment (CSE). The advertisement, published on the front page of a national daily on February 27, had twisted CSE's data to suggest that there is no misuse of antibiotics in the poultry sector and that the chicken produced is safe. Following this, N G Jayasimha, managing director of non-profit Humane Society International India, had lodged a complaint with ASCI. CSE has welcomed ASCI's decision. „
