At Dabur, we understand that for companies to sustain their success, they must act in environmentally and socially responsible manner while growing their business economically.

As a Responsible Corporate Citizen, Dabur has always been recognised for its commitment towards sustainability and ecological responsibility. Responsible management of natural resources in our operations and commitment towards the Environment have been part of the way we do business since our inception in 1884. As a company offering a portfolio of products based on Nature and natural ingredients, Dabur has always sought to operate its business with a strong regard for environmental sustainability. Dabur believes that being sustainable is all about maintaining a perfect equilibrium between Environment, Economy and the Society. Thanks to its continuous progress and results, Dabur is today seen as a flagbearer when it comes to meeting the ground water regulations and plastic waste rule regulations in the FMCG industry, and the company has been consistently setting an example for others. “At Dabur, we understand that for companies to sustain their success, they must act in environmentally and socially responsible manner while growing its business economically. Our commitment to protecting and preserving the environment runs deep, covering all aspects of our business,” Dabur India Ltd Head-CSR Mr. A. Sudhakar said.

Multi-Layer Plastic Waste Recyling

Moving forward in this direction, Dabur has been working towards establishing an effective waste management system that covers collecting consumer waste based on the Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) principle, and effectively recycling them. As a first step towards Plastic Waste Management, Dabur has formed a consortium with other responsible organizations to collect and help recycle multi-layer plastic (MLP) waste under a programme christened ‘WE CARE: Waste Efficient Collection & Recycling’. Being implemented by a Delhi-based NGO Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), this initiative covers 8 states across the country. The plastic waste collected through this initiative is sent to the Waste-to-Energy Plant of East Delhi Municipal Corporation, Ghazipur, Delhi. A similar project has also been initiated in Gujarat, along with an Ahmedabad-based waste management company NEPRA Resource Management Private Limited, to cover 11 cities in Gujarat.

Tetra Pak Waste Recycling

A separate initiative is also being implemented particularly for recycling Tetra Pak consumer waste. To make this initiative sustainable in the long run, the Company is engaging rag-picker associations. Under this initiative, the rag-pickers will be trained and incentivised to collect Tetra Pak cartons and send them to various collection centres across the city where baling machines have been installed. The collected waste cartons are then sent to paper mills, where they are recycled into a variety of products like roofing sheets, office stationery, tables etc. “We take seriously our impact on natural resources in the communities where we operate and have put in place measures to not merely comply with regulations but to responsibly take care of the Planet, preserve its beauty and resources for future generations,” Mr. Sudhakar added.
