Flood season

The recent floods in Mizoram and Manipur signify what is becoming the new normal. Analysis shows that in the future, the magnitude of floods is likely to increase by about 25 per cent in the Northeast. In Deluge Despite Deficit (1-15 September, 2016) Down To Earth noted, "Apart from causing loss of life, floods are a huge financial drain. They are the biggest threat to agriculture, impacting 7.5 million hectares of farmland every year particularly in agrarian states."
