Changing for worse

Apropos the cover story "Exiled by emissions" (16-31 May, 2018) on the impact of climate change across Africa. The issue impacts the socially vulnerable and poor communities more, primarily due to their fragile coping options. India is more vulnerable to the threat as its agricultural system must feed 17.5 per cent of the world's population with only 2.4 per cent of land and 4 per cent of water resources. It has framed an 11-point plan to address the impact of climate change and instituted a National Plan on Assessment, Adaptation and Mitigation of Climate Change. However, it is yet to be seen how it tackles the issue in the coming days.
