INGREDIENT­S

Cabbage: 3 cups (finely chopped) Tree spinach: 4-5 (finely cut) Grated coconut: 1/3 cups Pearl onion: 4 (finely chopped) For seasoning: 2-3 green chillies, turmeric powder, salt, cumin seeds and mustard seeds Virgin coconut oil: 2 teaspoon

METHOD

Grind the coconut, cumin and green chillies into a coarse paste. Mix cabbage, onions, tree spinach and the spices; add the paste to it and mix. Heat oil; splutter mustard seeds; and add the mixed ingredient­s. Sprinkle some water on it and cook on low flame with the lid closed. Keep stirring until soft. This Kerala-style thoran tastes best with rice.
