In the Mid­dle East, res­i­dents in Quriyat, Oman saw the hottest night­time tem­per­a­ture ever recorded in the world. Tem­per­a­tures stayed above 42.6ÊC for 51 straight hours in the last week of June. In Canada, a heat­wave has been blamed for at least 54 deaths in the Que­bec prov­ince.
