‘People still recognise me as Fami from NKP ’

- KAUSHIK RAJARAMAN

Actress-model Abhirami Iyer stole the limelight in the recently-concluded season of Bigg Boss. She talks to us in the middle of her busy shooting schedules. After her exit from the house, Abhirami has been mobbed by people during her public appearances. “The response from people has been overwhelming. Especially after Bigg Boss and Ner Konda Paarvai. I’m glad that my character of Famitha Banu struck a chord with the audience. Wherever I go, some people still recognise me as Fami. Ner Konda Paarvai is a huge break for me,” she tells us. The actress, who was evicted after a 56-day stay at the Bigg Boss house says that the show has nothing to do with her real-life persona. “Bigg Boss is just a part and parcel of my career. Nobody can judge a person in 50 or 100-days. I am not what people saw me in the reality show. I am a dancer, a student of Kalakshetra. I have always believed that the way you carry yourself is important. Also, I believe that one’s reputation is an important facet of life. I don’t do things that put my reputation at stake,” she adds.

Abhirami will next be seen in Sony Liv’s web series Iru Dhuruvam. Talking about her role in the series, she says, “It is an engrossing crime story. I play Nanda’s wife and mother to a kid. Iru Dhuruvam could also refer to Nandha and my characters in the series as you would see that we are poles apart. We shot for the first season last year and were in talks with a few OTT platforms. Shooting for it was a great learning experience and I am looking forward to upcoming seasons, which will be more intriguing.” Talking about her upcoming projects, she says that there are a few projects in the pipeline for which an official announcement will be made by makers in coming days.
