Two shepherds, 29 goats crushed to death by car at Ariyalur
TIRUCHY: Two persons and 29 goats died after a speeding car hit them at Tirumanur in Ariyalur on Thursday and the people resorted to a road block in the evening. S Murugesan, 41, and P Latha, 35, residents from Sathamangalam, were returning after grazing their goats, when suddenly a car from Ariyalur bound for Thanjavur hit the two and their goats in which, both Murugesan and Latha and as many as 29 goats were crushed to death. The persons in the car escaped after abandoning the car. On information, the residents from Sathamangalam gathered at the main road and staged a road block demanding action and a compensation for the decreased. On information, the police, led by SP VR Srinivasan, rushed to the spot and held talks with the agitating people. Later, they dispersed from the spot.
