Neglect of Tamil is cultural invasion, says Stalin

-

Condemning the Centre for ignoring Tamil in its admission notification for master’s degree in Ancient or Medieval Indian History, DMK president MK Stalin on Wednesday appealed to all sections to unite and express its condemnation to the regressive move which aims to destroy the unity of Union of India.

Describing the neglect of the most ancient and classical Tamil language in the admission notice issued by Archaeological

Survey of India as ‘condemnable’, Stalin said the deliberate neglect of Tamil, which accounts for 60% of the archaeological finds in the country, even while fixing Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Arabic and Persian as a qualification for admission was a “cultural invasion” on the Tamil language.

Recalling the condemnation received for the Centre, not including a representative from the south, scheduled caste or minority in the 16 member committee constituted for studying Indian culture, the DMK president said, “Let us unite and raise our condemnation against the retrograde act which attempts to destroy the unity of the Union of India.”

Also quoting the queries raised by the Madras High Court in a case related to the appointment of non-Tamil speaking north Indians in large numbers in railway, electricity board and Ooty Ordinance factory, Stalin said the doubts raised by the court would safeguard the welfare of the generations to come.

The court had wondered how applicants who had failed to clear Hindi exams had secured high marks in Tamil exams conducted for EB recruitment. Stalin also appealed to the people to join him in exposing the failures of the AIADMK regime which supports Hindi imposition and neglect of the welfare of Tamils by the BJP led Centre.
