Youth held under Goondas Act for sexual assaulting 4-year-old

TIRUCHY: A youth, who sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl child in Ariyalur, was detained under the Goondas Act on Thursday. It is said, M Manikandan (33) from Periya Krishnapuram village near Andimadam, had reportedly sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl. After the girl narrated the episode, the parents lodged a complaint with the Jayankondam All women police station. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case on him under various IPC sections, including Pocso act. On September 25, the Jayankondam police arrested Manikandan and lodged him in the prison. Meanwhile, the district superintendent VR Srinivasan also recommended the district Collector D Rathna to detain Manikandan under Goondas Act. Based on the recommendations, the district Collector ordered him to detain him and was later lodged in the central prison in Tiruchy on Thursday.
