Right turn allowed from OMR at Madhya Kailash jn

-

CHENNAI: The city traffic police have started allowing vehicles coming from OMR to take a right turn at the Madhya Kailash junction. The same had remained prohibited for more than a decade. Following the trials during the non-peak hours, the police decided to allow it permanently from next week onwards, police said. Accordingly, the signal timer has been reworked and there will be a 30-second window for the right turn. As of now, motorists who want to travel towards Adyar from OMR have to go left up to flyover near IIT and take ‘U’ turn to go to Adyar. Interestingly, police had, more than a year ago, started allowing a right turn from the middle of OMR stretch from Tidel Park to Madhya Kailash to Indira Nagar, thus taking off some vehicle load at Madhya Kailash junction.
