Parents awarded life sentence for sexually abusing 14-yr-old

A Pocso court in Coimbatore on Friday awarded life sentence to the parents of a 14-yearold girl for sexually abusing her. According to the prosecution, the victim was sexually harassed by her father, while her mother failed to protect her despite the girl informing her about the trauma in Anaimalai in 2019. She then took the issue to her school teacher, who lodged a complaint against her parents to the Anaimalai police. A case was registered against the girl’s parents, both daily wagers under the Pocso Act and arrested by police. Delivering the judgment, Pocso judge J Radhika awarded life term to the couple and also imposed a penalty of Rs 1,000 on them.
