Foundation laid for memorial for architect of PAP at Aliyar

Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani, on Friday, laid the foundation stone for the memorial of VK Palanisamy Gounder, one of the main architects of Parambikulam-Aliyar Scheme in the district. The memorial is being constructed at a cost of Rs One crore as a tribute to Palanisamy Gounder, who was an MLA in 1937. He fought for the cause of farmers and to revive the agricultural sector. Assembly Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman, MLA Kasthuri Vasu and other district officials were present at the foundation stone laying function at Aliyar.
