DMK trifurcates Tiruvallur district party unit
CHENNAI: The principal opposition party DMK on Monday trifurcated its Tiruvallur district party unit, continuing the reorganisation of the party units in the state for the 2021 Assembly polls. Tiruvallur north and south districts were divided into Tiruvallur Central, East and western districts. Avadi and Poonamallee (reserve) Assembly constituencies would constitute Tiruvallur Central DMK party district, which would be headed by local party strongman ‘Avadi’ SM Nazar. Tiruvallur (east) party district comprising Gummidipoondi and Ponneri (reserve) seats would be headed by TJ Govindarajan, while M Bhoopathy would be in charge of Tiruvallur west district consisting of Tiruttani and Tiruvallur Assembly segments, a statement issued by DMK general secretary Duraimurugan said on Monday.
