AIADMK, BJP turned ‘dollar city’ Tirupur into dull city, says Stalin

-

COIMBATORE: DMK leader MK Stalin on Sunday said that the party will take measures to spur industrial growth, once it comes to power unlike the AIADMK which works for its selfish gains.

Addressing a virtual gathering of party men in Tirupur held under ‘Thamizhagam Meetpom,’ the DMK leader said that the industrial sector has been struggling due to bad policies of the BJP and AIADMK governments.

“The demonetisation and implementation of GST by the BJP government ruined the industrial sector. Because of the government’s wrong economic policies, the knitwear exporters from Tirupur failed to achieve their target. The total trade volume from the district has come down by 24 per cent and 60 per cent of the industries have already shut down operations. The ‘dollar city’ has now become a ‘dull city.’” he said.

Stalin said that both workers and small and micro industrial firms are in trouble, while the Narendra Modi government has favoured only a few corporate. “The BJP government is bent upon enforcing anti-people laws. Now that the Centre is trying to demolish the eight hour working day rights secured through protests by workers’ world over. The Chief Minister, who should voice against to protect the workers’ rights, remains silent,” he added.

Referring to the circular issued by Doordarshan to all regional DD officials, instructing them to air the 15-minute daily and weekly Sanskrit news summary in the regional channels like Podhigai, Stalin urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP regime to stop imposition of Sanskrit through Doordarshan on Tamils.
