Rajini keeps up suspense; to announce political plans ‘soon’
CHENNAI: Keeping the suspense on his political plunge alive, actor Rajinikanth on Monday announced that he would announce his decision on political entry as early as possible.
“Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) district secretaries shared their opinions and I shared my views too. They said that they will abide by any decision I make. I will announce my decision as soon as possible,” Rajinikanth told reporters at his Poes Garden residence after a two-hour closed-door meeting with the district secretaries at Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam here. With the State Assembly polls less than six months away, the actor had convened his district secretaries to decide on the political party launch. “All the district secretaries urged Rajinikanth to launch his political party soon. He listened to our views and assured us to decide by Monday evening or Tuesday. Whatever decision was taken by him, all the district secretaries have agreed to abide by it,” RMM Thoothukudi district secretary, Stalin, told reporters outside the marriage hall at Kodambakkam.
When asked whether Rajinikanth will be the Chief Ministerial candidate, he said that there was no discussion on the issue here. “We only discussed whether he will enter politics or not. We also spoke about his health condition,” he clarified.
Posters were seen all over Poes Garden and Kodambakkam urging the actor to take the political plunge with a slogan ‘now or never’. Fans who gathered in huge numbers also showered flower petals on the actor’s car when he reached the marriage hall for the meeting. Soon after the meeting, Rajinikanth waved at his fans from the balcony.
