Widow kills two daughters; poisons pet dog; commits suicide in Madurai

Deeply saddened by the death of her husband, a dejected woman and her two daughters committed suicide in a house at Malaisamypuram near Othakadai in Madurai. The victims were found hanging in a room on Monday morning. Besides, a pet dog named ‘Ammu Kutty’ was allegedly poisoned to death. The deceased have been identified as Valarmathi (38) wife of late Arun and her daughters Akila (20), student of B.Sc. second year and Preethi (17), a class 12 student, sources said. Arun was a building contractor by profession in Tiruchy, sources said. The Othakadai police found a suicide note in the house saying the family of three could not bear the demise of the breadwinner and property of the late Arun should not go in the hands of his family since they left him uncared while he’s critically suffering in hospital, but to Lakshmi Ammal, mother of Valarmathi. Based on a complaint lodged by Ganeshan, relative of the deceased, Othakadai police have filed a case under Section 174 of Cr.P.C., sources said.
