Ceasefire violation along IB in J-K’s Kathua continues

JAMMU: Pakistani Rangers opened fire at border outposts along the Internatio­nal Border in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Monday.

The firing from the Pakistani side in Pansar, Karol Krishna and Gurnam border outposts started around 9:40 pm on Sunday, drawing effective retaliatio­n from the Border Security Force (BSF) guarding the IB, the officials said. The cross-border firing between the two sides continued till 3:10 am, forcing border residents to spend the night in undergroun­d bunkers. No casualty has been reported on the Indian side..

CRPF SI dies on duty in Kulgam A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Sub-Inspector died on

Monday while on duty in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said. SI Shabad Kumar of the 93rd CRPF Battalion fell unconsciou­s during duty hours at DK Marg Higher Secondary School. “He was immediatel­y shifted to a hospital but doctors declared him dead on arrival.” The exact cause of the death is yet to be known. Inquest proceeding­s have been initiated, police added.

JeM associate held in Kupwara An associate of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist was arrested in Kupwara by Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday. One hand-grenade and Rs 3.50 lakh were seized from his possession, police said. Earlier this month on November 19, four JeM terrorists were killed in Nagrota in an encounter by security forces.
