Security guard donates month’s salary to CMPRF
CHENNAI: In times of uncertainty prevailing over the relentless COVID second wave, several examples of the common man stepping up aid in every way possible are coming to the fore. A few days ago, little children donating their ‘savings’ to the CM’s relief fund, won hearts, and on Friday, a security guard working in a private firm in Saligramam, Chennai, donated his one-month salary towards the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF).
The guard, Thangadurai came to the camp office of Chief Minister MK Stalin, on his bicycle in the morning, and very little did people in the camp office expect that Thangadurai will soon turn into a hero by donating his salary of Rs 10,101 toward the fund. Though Thangadurai initially wanted to meet Stalin and hand over the money to him directly he was denied permission as the CM was busy meeting officials. However, when Stalin heard about Thangadurai, he met him and was touched by his gesture.
Stalin later gifted Thangadurai a book on ‘Thirukkural’ with his signature. The security guard who was overwhelmed at the reception, addressed the media, saying he came forward to donate whatever little amount he could as he was very disturbed by the situation around him where people were dying due to shortage of oxygen, proper treatment, etc.
He also insisted on everyone to donate according to their capacity and help the government in such difficult times.

Chief Minister MK Stalin on Friday appealed to his party cadre to extend maximum help to the people during the COVID-19 pandemic situation by adopting all safety measures.
Expressing serious concern over the rapid increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the state during the second wave, the DMK leader, in a statement said, the number of deaths occurring due to COVID-19 has also caused concern.
Urging the party functionaries to intensify the ‘Ondrinaivom Vaa’ campaign, Stalin also asked his party MLAs and Members of Parliament to fulfil all the basic and essential requirements of the people in this pandemic situation.
“This is the time that elected legislators should stand with the people, who had kept confidence in us,” he said adding, “therefore, additional responsibilities have to be taken to help the people.”
Stalin also appealed to his party men to ensure safety while helping the people by maintaining social distance and other standard operating procedures.
“I will also be with you in the fieldwork with responsibility on my shoulders as the Chief Minister,” he added. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for immediately responding to the State’s request by allocating 419 metric tonne of oxygen, he also said that he would also fulfil the state’s further requirement while pointing out that private companies too helped the state in supplying oxygen.
The DMK president said that Industry Minister Thangam Thennarasu along with his department authorities were involved in taking effective steps to increase the oxygen production in the state.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Stalin said that his party legislators and Parliamentarians have decided to donate one month’s salary to the Chief Minister relief fund.
