Bomb threat to Dhaka-bound plane turns out to be hoax

DHAKA: A bomb threat, which forced a Malaysia Airlines flight with 135 passengers on board to made an emergency landing at the Dhaka airport, turned out to be a hoax, a senior airport official said on Thursday. The Dhaka-bound MH-196 flight from Kuala Lumpur landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal Internatio­nal Airport at 9:38 pm local time on Wednesday amid tight security at the airport and the runway Following the threat call, commandos and security agencies were positioned at the airport along with firefighte­rs and ambulances. On landing, the plane was marshalled to the taxiway where the Air Force’s bomb squad conducted a thorough search of the aircraft after evacuating its passengers. However, no explosive or bomb-like object was found inside the aircraft or in any passenger’s luggage.
