TN to conduct model NEET exams for govt school students
After deciding to distribute a comprehensive question bank for Class 12 students, the Tamil Nadu government is now planning to conduct model NEET exams for medical aspirants in State-run schools as part of their curriculum.
The new measure by the School Education Department is different from the current free NEET coaching for government and government-aided Class 12 students. A senior official from the Department said the government is keen to scrap NEET but authorities have no idea when the test will be cancelled. “Therefore, the Department is planning to organise model exams for Class 12 students at the school level,” he added.
Stating that model question papers will be prepared by medical experts and former students who cleared NEET in the first attempt, the official said, “Simultaneously, the free NEET online training for government school students will continue so that it helps aspirants with the model exams well.”
The official also said that authorities will discuss the number of model exams to be conducted before the NEET entrance test. “Previousexam questions will also be taken into consideration to prepare the model papers,” he added. “In the backdrop of the 7.5% reservation quota for government school students, this year more medical aspirants are likely to attempt the examination,” he said adding, “hence the government has committed to increasing the number of students for clearing NEET till the medical entrance gets cancelled.”
Authorities will also conduct regular counselling for medical aspirants in government schools. Parents will also be counselled.
Free online NEET training will continue. This will help with model exams
