TNEA: Nearly 19,000 enrol on Day One
The much-awaited online registration for aspirants seeking engineering admission in Tamil Nadu commenced on Monday, with nearly 19,000 candidates enrolled on day one.
Till 6 pm, 18,763 students have registered for admission, said Additional Director of Higher Education Department and Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA2022) in-charge Dr T Purushothaman. Of these, 4,199 have made the requisite payment, the official, adding that 790 candidates have uploaded their certificates.
TNEA 2022 is a completely online process, including registration, payments, choice filling, allotment and confirmation.
The schools were instructed to help candidates in enrolling, and more than 100 facilitation centres have been established across the State where they can register free of cost. Purushothaman added that awareness would be created about the 7.5 per cent horizontal reservation among students of government schools so that admissions in higher educational institutions would improve this academic year.
The last date for online registration is July 19. After a gap of three days, random numbers will be assigned to students. The certificate verification will begin on July 20 and will go on till July 31. On August 8, the rank list will be published and counselling will start on August 16 and end on September 18.
For two decades till 2018, Anna University has been conducting engineering admissions through single-window counselling.
However, it changed in 2019 after differences cropped up between the university and the Higher Education Department over the reconstitution of the TNEA committee. Since then, the Directorate of Technical Education has been conducting the counselling process.
