NCPCR team hands over report to Governor on alleged two-finger test

-

CHENNAI: Member of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights RG Anand on Monday called on Governor RN Ravi and presented a copy of the report on their investigation into the alleged “forced virginity tests” on minor girls from the Dikshitar community in Chidambaram.

Raj Bhavan posted a picture of Anand handing over the report copy of his inquiry regarding the issue to the Governor and also tagged the official Twitter handle of the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and NCPCR.

Anand visited Chidambaram and interacted with the Dikshitars last week after the Governor claimed in an interview that “Two Finger” test was conducted on minor girls, which snowballed into a controversy.

Anand, in his social media post said, “All the claims made by the Governor are true.” He posted the message, after inquiring with the Dikshitars, verified the police records in connection with the case and stated “100 per cent two-finger test was carried out on the girls.” A report would be submitted to the Chairman of the Commission, he added.

Following this, state Health Minister Ma Subramanian categorically denied the claims of Anand and condemned his statement. Further course of action against the NCPCR member would be decided after consulting with the Chief Minister, who is touring foreign countries to attract investments, he said.

Meanwhile, photographs of minor girls getting married circulated on social media had gone viral, while many wondered whether the NCPCR is supporting child marriage and trying to appease the Governor.
